Boy Bedroom Color Schemes
My Three Favorite Color Schemes for Boys Bedrooms
Are you looking for ideas to create the perfect boys bedroom? Today, I'm sharing my three favorite color schemes for boys bedrooms. This is a follow-on to my earlier post – My Three Favorite Color Schemes for Girls Bedrooms. The reason that I love these particular color combinations so much is that they can be used for any age – from toddlers to teenagers. I love flexible designs, and having a flexible color scheme can allow you to change things like bedding and accessories in his room over time, without having to change out the rug or wall color. For each color combination, I've rounded up several pictures to illustrate the range of looks you can achieve with these colors. Hopefully you'll find the inspiration you've been searching for!
#1 Navy and Gray
This is my all-time favorite color scheme to use for a boy's bedroom. I love the relaxing vibe that is created by pairing masculine navy with soothing gray. It's also very neutral, so you can add any pop of color to it you choose, and it works with virtually any theme (planes, dinosaurs, sports, etc.). Add a little red or orange to create a more vibrant look, or mix in different colors throughout the years. This is a highly flexible color combination that will work for your boy for years to come!
Some of my favorite places to get inspiration and shop for this color scheme are: Pottery Barn Kids, PB Teen, RH Baby & Child, and RH Teen. They always have great bedding, rugs, and accessories in this color scheme!
Now, let's look at some inspiration pics!
#2 Orange and Gray
This is probably not the first color combination that pops into your head when you think about color schemes for boys bedrooms. But, that's exactly why it's in my number 2 spot. It combines neutral gray with outspoken orange to create a unique, yet masculine look. I especially love how these colors pair with wood!
The trick for this color scheme is to use the orange sparingly. In other words, let gray take the lead, and use orange only as an accent…not as your main color. Where to shop for orange? Crate & Kids tends to have orange accessories and bedding.
The following rooms have achieved the perfect balance of orange and gray. See how the gray takes center stage, but the orange keeps it from looking dull and drab?
#3 Navy and Green
This is a classic color combination for boys that has been used for years. The timeless pairing of navy and green works for both young boys and teens alike. Navy and green are both strong, masculine colors, so be sure to bring in lots of white or gray to tone them down a bit. This color combination can also work well in a gender-neutral bunk room or playroom…food for thought!
Need a great navy paint color for your walls? Take a look at BM Old Navy or SW Naval.
Here are some examples of this playful, vibrant color scheme.
These pictures make me want to decorate a boys room! Hopefully, you've found some great ideas and inspiration from these fun rooms. Of these color schemes for boys bedrooms, which one is your favorite?
